Market Comments – November 18, 2015

Global rough diamond markets remain exceptionally weak. This has been compounded by the Diwali holiday season in India. There are expectations for further downward corrections to rough prices this year and the subdued sentiment is expected to continue well into 2016. Prices achieved at Tenders still outperforming open markets as buyers are able to be more selective in their buying activity at Tenders. Fear of further bankruptcies in the mid and downstream sectors is further hampering trading activity. Polished market remains subdued with buying activity leading up to Holiday season falling short of expectations.
